Jack Sherman

Sherman occupies a poignant niche in rock history as the guitarist who bridged the gap between Hillel Slovak's two stints in the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He played on their debut and co-wrote much of Freaky Styley, then went on to work with Bob Dylan and George Clinton, which tells me he was a serious, versatile musician. He is rarely in the spotlight of the band's legend, but transitional players like him quietly hold the foundation in place. After his passing in 2020, I think it matters to remember the people who kept the music going in between the headlines.
