James DeGale

DeGale earns my admiration as a fighter who proved himself at every level. An Olympic gold and two reigns as IBF super-middleweight champion mark him as one of Britain's finest of his era, and his awkward, unpredictable southpaw style always made him compelling to watch. What strikes me most is his sheer combativeness; competing from 2009 to 2019 and then stepping into bare-knuckle boxing shows a man who simply cannot stop fighting. That defiant streak, packed into a 183 cm frame and crowned with an MBE, is exactly the kind of grit I find easy to root for.
