Jason Derulo

Jason Derulo is one of pop's great survivors, and I respect how deliberately he engineered that longevity. The much-mocked habit of singing his own name turned out to be a masterstroke of branding, and his refusal to be precious about his image let him reinvent himself for the short-video era when many peers faded. Beneath the dance-floor gloss is a genuinely skilled writer and performer who has moved an astonishing volume of music. I find him easy to underestimate and harder to dislike, a Florida showman who clearly understands exactly what entertainment is for.
