My Take
I have a real soft spot for Jay Park, because he's basically a Seattle b-boy who willed himself into becoming one of the most important figures in Korean hip hop. The man came up dancing with Art of Movement, broke into K-pop, then completely flipped the script by building AOMG and H1ghr Music from the ground up and giving a whole generation of Korean rappers and R&B artists a real home. What I love is how unbothered and self-made he feels, hustling between Seattle and Seoul, swaggy but genuinely hardworking. His music swings from slinky R&B to brash club bangers, and he sells all of it with charisma to spare. To me he's proof that an outsider with relentless drive can build his own lane.
