Jeremy Piven

Look, Jeremy Piven is one of those guys who was always good but then hit a role so perfectly tailored to him that it became hard to imagine anyone else doing it. Ari Gold on Entourage was electric — a fast-talking, morally flexible Hollywood agent who somehow managed to be the most entertaining person in every room despite being genuinely terrible at times. Piven brought this manic, almost theatrical energy to the part that felt completely lived-in, and the Television Academy agreed, handing him three straight Emmy Awards from 2006 to 2008. What I find interesting is how different his Mr. Selfridge run was — quieter, more restrained, genuinely charming — proving he had real range beyond the shouting. Born in Manhattan, trained properly, he's a craftsman who found his perfect storm with Ari, and that's not nothing.
