My Take
I've always thought Jeremy Renner is one of those actors who quietly earns your respect before you even realize it. He grinded through indie films and bit parts for years, then The Hurt Locker just floored me, that coiled, adrenaline-junkie intensity got him a deserved Oscar nod and a wall of critics' awards. What I love is that he's not the obvious leading-man type, he's wiry, intense, a little dangerous, and he brings that to everything from Hawkeye in the Avengers to The Town. The fact that he's also a genuine musician and started out doing makeup tells you he's a craftsman, not just a face. Reliable, underrated, and tougher than he looks. I'm always glad when he shows up.
