My Take

Jerry Mbakogu represents the part of football I find most human. A 190cm Nigerian striker who can also play the wing, he has built his career far from the Champions League glamour, currently turning out for Serie D side Sanremese. I admire players who leave home young, cross continents, and grind through the lower divisions chasing the game they love. There is dignity in that climb that the highlight reels rarely capture. Stars get the headlines, but leagues survive on hungry forwards like him, and I will always root for the ones still fighting up the ladder.
