Jessica Szohr

Jessica Szohr is the kind of actor I quietly root for. Vanessa on Gossip Girl could have been a thankless role, but she gave it a grounded, unfussy honesty that anchored a flashy show. What strikes me is the trajectory: a small Wisconsin town to a Chicago arts college to the glossy machine of New York television. That distance takes nerve. She rarely chases awards or headlines, yet she keeps working, and reliable, no-drama professionals like her are the connective tissue of the industry. I find her career more interesting precisely because it has been steady rather than explosive. There is craft in that.
