Jiah Khan

Jiah Khan's story lingers with me precisely because it was cut short. An American-born, London-raised young woman who chased a film career all the way to Mumbai, she had the boldness to bet everything on a dream in an industry that rarely favors outsiders. Three Hindi films across a few short years is a slim record, yet I read it as evidence of nerve rather than failure. Her death at twenty-five robbed us of whatever she might have become, and I find myself genuinely curious about the artist she was still becoming. Talent interrupted is its own kind of haunting beauty.
