Joby Baker

Joby Baker intrigues me precisely because he never settled into a single lane. Born in Montreal in 1934 and gone in June 2026 at 92, he built a career as an actor in the United States while also working seriously as a painter. I am drawn to performers who carry a second, more private art, because it suggests a mind that observes the world from more than one angle. His acting credits may not headline anthologies, but the longevity and the dual vocation tell me he valued the work itself over fame. That, to me, is the mark of a genuine craftsman rather than a celebrity.
