My Take
John DiMaggio is one of those artists you know instantly even if you have never seen his face. Bender in Futurama, Jake in Adventure Time, Marcus Fenix in Gears of War, that gravelly, commanding voice has breathed life into hundreds of characters across decades. What I respect is the pure craft of it: building memorable personalities with sound alone, no camera flattery involved. A Rutgers graduate who chose the unseen lane, he embodies the quiet mastery of voice acting better than almost anyone. The medium is far richer for performers like him, and I count myself a genuine admirer of his work.
