John Forté

John Forté's story moves me in a way few do. A Brooklyn talent who helped shape the Fugees' landmark The Score and shone alongside Wyclef Jean, only to lose his way to a drug conviction, then try to rebuild on the strength of his gift. I see in him the full arc of talent, downfall, and the will to begin again. His passing in early 2026 closes that chapter, but the sounds he crafted remain woven into hip-hop history. Holding all of it together, brilliance and struggle alike, I'd rather listen closely and wish him peace.
