My Take
Jonathon Crawford's story is the one that lingers with me. Drafted in the first round in 2013 out of the University of Florida, he carried enormous expectation and never reached the Major Leagues. It would be easy to read that as failure, but I see it differently. Being a first-round pick at all marks you as one of the most gifted arms in the country, and getting that far from Okeechobee is its own achievement. The gap between being elite and reaching the absolute summit is brutally thin in baseball. I respect the grind, and Crawford clearly had the talent that mattered.
