My Take

Jonjoe Kenny is exactly the kind of footballer I find easy to root for: a Merseyside lad from the Everton academy who has turned a professional career, begun in 2014, into a journey that now runs through PAOK in Greece. Right-back is a thankless, lung-busting role, and at 176 cm he clearly survives on grit rather than physical dominance. What interests me is his willingness to leave the comfort of an English club and prove himself abroad. That appetite for a harder challenge, rather than coasting in a familiar league, is what separates the careerists from the merely talented.
