Jorma Tommila

Tommila is a revelation, the granite-faced Aatami Korpi of Sisu who lets his back do the talking. A Rauma-born journeyman who writes as well as acts, he spent years as a respected name in Finland, won a Jussi Award, then detonated onto the world stage with that wordless, indestructible performance, taking Best Actor at Sitges in 2022. I find the late-career breakout thrilling; presence like his cannot be faked or taught. There is real satisfaction in watching a seasoned domestic talent finally claim international attention, and I am completely won over by the slow-burn arc of it.
