My Take

Wilson is the kind of player I find quietly admirable. He was a Pennsylvania high-school phenom, a state champion and Player of the Year, yet his pro career was that of a journeyman infielder rather than a headline star. To me that's not a step down but a different kind of achievement. A utility man who can be plugged in anywhere is the connective tissue of a roster, the guy who keeps the machine running when starters go down. The fact that several organizations wanted exactly that says a lot. I respect a long career built on usefulness over flash, and on carrying a hometown's pride.
