My Take

What draws me to Baldoni is the rare double life he leads on a film set: he can be the heartthrob in front of the lens and the decision-maker behind it. Going from Rafael on Jane the Virgin to writing, directing and starring in It Ends with Us shows an appetite that most camera-friendly actors never develop. The Los Angeles upbringing, the football, the DJ years, then founding his own studio, paint a picture of someone restless and entrepreneurial. He is best known for playing Rafael Solano on the CW telenovela Jane the Virgin (2014–2019) and for starring in and directing the romantic drama film It Ends with Us (2024). He has also directed Five Feet Apart (2019) and Clouds (2020). Baldoni co-founded the production company Wayfarer Studios in 2019.
