My Take
KAORU is the kind of pro wrestler who makes you realize how soft the rest of us are — she was grinding on the mat from 1986, born in Sasebo, Nagasaki, and kept going until she retired in 2022 at 53. Women's wrestling in Japan has always had its share of bright flashes who burn out fast, but KAORU is the opposite of that: no fanfare, no viral moment, just decades of taking bumps and showing up for the next match. Trained by Jaguar Yokota and billed as the "Original Hardcore Queen", she mixed high-flying with hardcore long before it was fashionable — she let the work speak. Associated with Marvelous, she carries that old-school joshi puroresu grit where toughness isn't performed, it's just Tuesday. I genuinely respect anyone who's built a career this long on craft alone, no pop-culture shortcut in sight.
