My Take
What draws me to Karla Sofía Gascón is courage as much as craft. Her Best Actress win at Cannes for Emilia Pérez was historic, marking a milestone for transgender performers, and the bravery behind that moment is impossible to overstate. She is genuinely multitalented, working in film, television, and memoir, but her most powerful performance may simply be living openly as herself. The European Film Award and the French Chevalier honor are real validation, yet what earns my applause first is the life behind them. Becoming a figure who emboldens others is, to me, an achievement that outshines any trophy.
