Kate Vernon

Kate Vernon is the kind of character actor I treasure. From Lorraine on Falcon Crest to the snobbish Benny in Pretty in Pink and a turn in Malcolm X, she has quietly threaded through decades of film and television. But it is Ellen Tigh in Battlestar Galactica that earns my real respect; playing someone that morally slippery and still magnetic is no small feat. She is not chasing the spotlight of leading roles, and that is precisely her strength. I value performers who can twist a story from the margins, and Vernon does it with unmistakable craft.
