My Take

Katie Nolan interests me because she brought a genuinely fresh voice to sports media, a field that can be stiflingly formulaic. A Hofstra-trained journalist out of Boston, she hosted her own shows on Fox Sports and ESPN with deliberately irreverent titles like Garbage Time, then carved out her own space at SiriusXM. I value commentators who would rather be sharp and funny than safely polished, and she clearly belongs to that camp. A 1987 Aquarius, inventive and unafraid, she succeeds by sounding like nobody but herself. That is the kind of independence I happily cheer for.
