My Take

Keb' Mo' is one of those rare artists I'd call a custodian of a tradition rather than just a performer. Born in Los Angeles and now rooted in Nashville, he's been called a living link to the Delta blues, and I think that's exactly right. What moves me is how effortlessly he folds folk, jazz, and pop into that old Mississippi sound without losing its soul. The 2018 Grammy is nice, but the real reward is hearing a man past seventy play with such warmth and ease. He's the kind of seasoned craftsman I never tire of.
