Keiji Oyama

Keiji Oyama is one of those baseball guys whose career was built behind the plate — eight seasons across the Fighters, Dragons and Eagles without ever becoming a star — and honestly that tells its own story. He's from Miyagi Prefecture, deep in Tohoku, which has this unromantic, gritty baseball culture that produces players who grind rather than shine. He played in NPB from 2008 to 2015 and stayed in the game as a coach, and I have a lot of respect for the guys who chase a professional baseball dream without ever becoming household names. The sport runs on them. Everything about his path makes me think he was the type who just showed up, did the work, and let the ball do the talking.
