My Take

Keith Ellison reads to me as the rare politician whose career makes sense as a straight line. A Detroit upbringing, legal training at Wayne State, years as a working lawyer, twelve years representing Minneapolis in Congress, and then the deliberate move to become Minnesota's attorney general in 2019. Choosing a state law-enforcement post over the national spotlight tells you where he believes power actually gets exercised. I find that instinct genuinely interesting: he seems to prefer the venue where legal craft matters more than rhetoric.
