My Take
What strikes me about Kelly Price is how she earned the spotlight the hard way. She spent years as an uncredited backing voice behind Mariah Carey before her own gospel-rooted instrument forced the world to notice her. I admire artists who build a career on craft rather than scandal, and Price is exactly that kind of singer: a powerhouse who let the voice do the arguing. To me she represents a quieter, dignified model of R&B success that the streaming era too often overlooks.
