My Take
Kenny Johnson is one of those actors who quietly becomes the best part of every show he touches. I first noticed him as Lem in The Shield — that character had this raw, conflicted decency that broke your heart by the finale, and Johnson played it with zero showboating. Then he turned up in Sons of Anarchy as Kozik, gave him real texture in limited screen time, and kept right on popping up in Bates Motel, Saving Grace, S.W.A.T., Chicago Fire — the guy is everywhere if you're paying attention. Born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1963 and a former Central Connecticut State athlete, he came up the hard way without Hollywood nepotism, and that groundedness shows in every lived-in performance he delivers. Not a household name, maybe, but the kind of actor other actors study.
