My Take
Rikishi and actor. Two words in the same biography, and I keep turning them over. Sumo resolves in seconds; a bout can be decided before you have finished sitting down. Film work is the opposite, built out of repetition, waiting, and the same three lines twenty times. Someone who has lived on both clocks carries something unusual into a room. Kensho Sawada was born in 1986 in Iga, Mie Prefecture, a place better known abroad for its ninja history than its wrestlers. He wrestled for Kokonoe stable as Chiyonoshin from 2002 to 2012, reaching makushita 59, as part of the same 1986-born generation as Kisenosato and Goeido. What I can say is that a body trained for the dohyo does not read as neutral on camera. It is specific, it has a history written into it, and directors notice. That crossover alone strikes me as a career worth tracking rather than filing away.
