My Take
Kleber Mendonca Filho is a filmmaker I appreciate for the unusual road he took. Starting as a movie critic before moving behind the camera in 2002 gives his work a sharp, analytical eye, and you can feel that in how deliberately his films are built. Bacurau in particular shows he isn't afraid to blend genres and politics. With awards like the Sitges Best Director nod, he's earned his standing as one of Brazil's most distinctive voices.
