Kōhei Tokeshi

Kōhei Tokeshi is the kind of fighter who makes you feel slightly guilty for sitting on a couch — a Japanese martial artist born on June 4, 1988, and someone who probably treats every year like a fresh training camp. The surname Tokeshi is distinctly Okinawan, and there's something poetic about that: Okinawa has its own deep current of martial tradition, and you get the sense this guy absorbed it bone-deep rather than stumbled into a gym for the Instagram. He went from high-school baseball captain in Okinawa to Pancrase to the bare-knuckle Lethwei rings of Myanmar, where he won a title, and that path only makes him more compelling. Real ones don't need a PR team. I can respect that kind of low-key relentlessness more than a dozen hype reels.
