My Take
I'd rather remember Kris Holden-Ried as the kind of steady character actor a production needs. Born in Pickering, Ontario in 1973, he was a member of the Canadian national pentathlon team with silver medals from the Pan American and Pan Pacific championships before landing the lead in Young Ivanhoe at his first audition, and he went on to play William Compton in The Tudors and Dyson in Lost Girl. Leads get the posters, but performers who can shape a scene just by being in frame are the glue that holds a show together. If I catch him in a North American drama, I expect the kind of understated, reliable work that makes you nod and think, that guy knows what he's doing.
