My Take

As a track fan, I hold Kriss Akabusi in high regard. The 1984 Olympic relay silver, golds at the 1986 Commonwealth Games and European Championships, a World Championships podium, and an MBE add up to a genuinely decorated career. What I admire just as much, though, is his second act: that booming, unmistakable laugh turned him into a beloved television presenter long after he left the track. There's something I find genuinely inspiring about an athlete who keeps bringing people joy once the racing is done. To me, that ability to reinvent and still light up a room is its own kind of medal.
