My Take
Connolly is the kind of dependable character actress who quietly makes the projects around her better. The Cabin in the Woods is where most people first clocked her, playing the deceptively sharp final girl in a film that constantly subverts horror tropes, and she nailed the tonal tightrope it required. Then House of Cards let her do something quieter and more wounded. She trained at Yale, and it shows in how controlled and unshowy her choices are. She has never become a household name, but she's exactly the sort of reliable, intelligent performer that good ensembles are built on.
