Lee Ving

Lee Ving strikes me as the genuine article among provocateurs. As the snarling frontman of the hardcore punk band Fear he made discomfort an art form, and then he carried that menace straight into film, playing memorable hard cases in Flashdance and Streets of Fire and the ill-fated Mr. Boddy in Clue. I have a real soft spot for outsiders who refuse to be tamed in any medium, and Ving moved between music and acting without ever sanding down his edges. Learning his real surname is Capallero only deepened my fondness. He is proof that authentic danger never goes out of style.
