Linda Manz

Linda Manz haunts me a little. Debuting at fifteen in Malick's Days of Heaven, she brought a raspy, untrained authenticity that no acting class could manufacture, and The Wanderers confirmed it was no fluke. What moves me is that she largely walked away from fame, choosing an ordinary life over the spotlight that clearly wanted her. There is something quietly defiant in that. When she passed in 2020, cinema lost a voice that felt genuinely irreplaceable. I value her precisely because she never tried to be a star; she simply was unforgettable, and that distinction means everything to me.
