Lio

I have a real fondness for Lio's longevity. A pop icon in 1980s France and Belgium, she could have faded into nostalgia, yet she keeps reinventing her place in culture. Her recent role as a judge on Drag Race Belgium tells me she understands that staying relevant means championing the next generation rather than clinging to old glory. Born in Portugal and raised between languages and countries, she carries a cosmopolitan ease that suits her. I admire performers who age without dimming, and Lio strikes me as exactly that, still sharp, still curious, still very much present.
