My Take

Lisa's story reads almost like a fable: a girl from Buri Ram, Thailand, auditions her way into one of the best-selling girl groups in history and ends up with an MBE. What impresses me beyond the precision dancing and effortless rap delivery is her self-possession; stepping out solo under her own name, in an industry built on group identity, takes real nerve. She has become proof that K-pop's center of gravity is no longer bound to one country. I find her pride in her Thai roots especially winning, and I suspect her second act will be even bigger than her first.
