Liz Truss

Look, I'll be honest — Liz Truss is one of those figures who is genuinely hard to look away from, not for the reasons she'd want. She made it to the top of British politics, became Prime Minister in September 2022, and then managed to implode her own government so thoroughly in just 45 days that a head of lettuce outlasted her in a famous tabloid stunt. The "mini-budget" she and Kwasi Kwarteng unleashed spooked the bond markets, tanked the pound, and sent mortgage rates spiraling before she reversed course and resigned. To be fair, she walked into a brutal political moment, but the speed of the self-destruction was almost impressive in its own way. Oxford-educated, a former accountant, a Remainer who reinvented herself as a Brexit champion — she's nothing if not adaptable. History's shortest-serving UK Prime Minister. That's a record nobody wanted.
