My Take

Lo Yi-Chun represents a kind of public figure I think deserves more recognition than it gets. A Hualien-born internist and epidemiologist, the kind of specialist who is invisible in calm times and indispensable in a crisis. The thin public record here reads to me less as obscurity than as someone too busy doing the work to perform it. Infectious-disease experts shoulder responsibility most of us never see, weighing risk and lives behind data and policy. I have a deep, plain respect for that. Fame is a poor measure of value, and people like this are exactly why.
