Lyoto Machida

Lyoto Machida fascinates me as a fighter who turned martial arts into something almost sculptural. Brazilian-born in Salvador but carrying Japanese heritage, he built an elusive, karate-rooted style that made opponents look lost in space. His run to the UFC Light Heavyweight title, capped by that unforgettable one-shot front kick, is a masterclass in controlling distance rather than trading blows. I've always admired the intellect over brawn approach he embodied. With a rikishi bloodline and a true karateka's discipline, Machida proved traditional technique could thrive inside the cage. Genuinely one of a kind.
