Maitreyi Ramakrishnan

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is one of those rare breakout stories I genuinely root for. Born in Mississauga, Ontario in 2001, she landed the lead role of Devi in Netflix's Never Have I Ever after answering an open casting call, which still feels like a small miracle of timing and talent. To me she represents a real shift in who gets to carry a coming-of-age comedy, and she did it with a confidence that belied her age. Watching her hold that series across 2020-2023 made me curious about where she goes next, because that kind of early lead role usually signals a long career.
