Marco Fu

Marco Fu is, to me, one of the great quiet ambassadors of snooker. Born in Hong Kong in 1978, he carved out a place at the top of a sport long dominated by British players, winning three ranking titles and twice reaching Triple Crown finals. What I love is the stillness in his game, the long, patient lines of attack and the calm under pressure. His Medal of Honour suggests how much his home city treasures him, and rightly so. I have always been drawn to athletes who win through precision and composure rather than bravado, and Fu embodies that ideal beautifully.
