My Take
Okay, Kunihiro Shimizu is one of those guys who just commanded the court the second he stepped on it, and at 193cm with a swing like a cannon, I get why. I love that he's from Fukui City, this quiet, mountains-and-sea corner of Japan, because there's something fun about that calm hometown producing a player who hits the ball like he's mad at it. He went through Tokai University and grew into this reliable big-brother type, the loud, warm presence that quietly held a whole roster together. What gets me is the longevity and the grit underneath the flashy spikes, the sense that he's been the team's backbone through long, grinding stretches. I'm just a fan of the guy.
