Maurice Glasman, Baron Glasman

Maurice Glasman interests me because he resists easy categories. A political theorist and Labour life peer who is also a working columnist, he keeps one foot in the academy and the other in public argument. His Walthamstow origins and his Faith and Citizenship work suggest a thinker rooted in community rather than abstraction, which I find more trustworthy than ivory-tower commentary. Whether or not you share his politics, there's value in an intellectual willing to wrestle publicly with messy questions of belonging and belief. I respect figures who think from the ground up, and Glasman strikes me as exactly that sort.
