My Take
Weinberg is the consummate sideman, and that's high praise from me. As the longtime drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, he provided the muscular backbone of some of rock's most cathartic live shows, then proved his range by leading the band for Conan O'Brien on late-night television. Few drummers can hold down a groove and command a broadcast with equal ease. The 2022 New Jersey Hall of Fame nod feels earned, and the fact that his son Jay drums for Slipknot only deepens the lineage. I'll always be drawn to the player who holds the whole thing together.
