My Take
Maxwell Atoms, born Adam Burton, is one of those creators I genuinely admire. The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy is a small miracle of tone, smuggling pitch-black, surreal humor inside a kids' cartoon while keeping adults grinning. That tightrope walk takes real craft, and his work on Evil Con Carne and more recently Helluva Boss shows he never lost the edge. From Albuquerque to the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, he built a singular comedic voice that refuses to be cute or safe. I'm drawn to artists who trust their audience with weirdness, and Atoms has done exactly that for decades.
