My Take
What I admire about MC Hammer isn't just the iconic baggy pants or the unstoppable groove of "U Can't Touch This" — it's the whole arc. He rose out of Oakland, conquered pop culture almost overnight, then crashed hard, and kept reinventing himself as a dancer, choreographer and entrepreneur. A lot of artists guard their image carefully; Hammer threw himself into everything, awards and ridicule alike. That fearless, slightly chaotic hustle feels more human to me than any polished superstar.
