My Take
Medea Benjamin has my respect for sheer staying power. Born in 1952 and raised in Freeport, New York, she studied at Tufts and Columbia but never settled for theory. Co-founding Code Pink and Global Exchange, she has spent decades putting her body where her convictions are, earning the 2014 Gandhi Peace Award. What I admire most is the refusal to go quiet with age. Activists like her take on the role nobody wants, willingly absorbing criticism to keep a conversation alive. Agree or not, that kind of durable conviction is rare, and I think it deserves to be acknowledged.
