Mehwish Hayat

Mehwish Hayat fascinates me precisely because she crossed lanes so fluidly, from singing and modeling into leading film roles. Several of her comedies rank among the highest-grossing Pakistani films, which makes her one of the faces of that industry. Breaking out with Jawani Phir Nahi Ani and then anchoring Actor in Law shows she has real screen presence, not just glamour. What I respect most is the state honor she received, a sign she is valued beyond entertainment. I find myself rooting for performers who become a friendly face for an underrepresented industry, and she fits that role beautifully.
