My Take
Michael Che is the kind of comedian who makes you laugh and flinch in the same breath. A true New Yorker out of LaGuardia High School, he brings a deadpan nerve to Weekend Update that pairs perfectly with Colin Jost's polish. What I admire is his willingness to poke at the uncomfortable rather than play it safe, all while seeming utterly unbothered. Co-head writing SNL and hosting the Emmys proves the chops behind the slacker cool. For me, the best comics make you think while you chuckle, and Che does exactly that with an enviable lightness of touch.
