Midori

What I honor most about Midori is the doors she opened. Born in Durham, North Carolina, she worked as a singer, dancer, model and actress, and in 2001 became the first African-American woman to win an AVN award, later earning Hall of Fame induction in 2009. That kind of multi-disciplinary range, paired with the courage to be first where no one had walked, is not something easily replicated. I see her as a genuine trailblazer who carved out space in an industry that rarely makes room, and that deserves quiet, sincere recognition.
